With the proper use of blackjack card counting systems however, you can decrease the house edge considerably and perhaps even turn the blackjack odds in your favor slightly.

With all the many different forms of blackjack card counting systems in existence, a beginning player should start off with the relatively simple ones. After you have mastered these techniques to a suitable degree, you can then move onto the more complex blackjack card counting systems. Here are two of the most common blackjack card counting systems currently in use.

Basic Hi-Low Card Counting System

Even though it has the word “basic” in its name, the Basic Hi-Lo Card Counting System is no less effective than the other forms. You can still gain a pretty decent edge over the house using this system, and it involves grouping the cards into 3 and assigning a value to each group. The values for each group are:

+1 for the cards from 2 to 6
0 for the cards from 7 to 9
-1 for the cards from 10 to A

Adding up the entire deck of cards with this system will give you a value of 0. This system will tell you what most of the cards that remain in the deck are.

Uston SS Card Counting System

This is a more advanced blackjack card counting system that is quite a bit more accurate than the Basic Hi-Lo Card Counting System. The main difference between the two systems is that the idea is the Uston SS Card Counting System uses 6 values instead of the 3 used in the Basic Hi-Lo Card Counting System. The values for each group are:

2 for the cards 2, 4, and 6
3 for the 5 card
1 for the 7 card
0 for the 8 card
-1 for the 9 card
-2 for the 10 to the A cards

The main challenge with this blackjack card counting system is memorizing the value of each card. If you can manage to that however, the mathematics that governs the system is pretty much the same.
