Ok, lets hope we have a better weekend than we had last weekend. So far, it is off to a good start with a win last night.

fsuFlorida State was a 3 point underdog and looked terrible in the first half but rebounded to come back and win the game 30 – 27, easily beating the 3 points and winning straight up.

That win brings us to 12-10-1 on the year. Not great numbers I admit, but we are looking to add a lot more to the win column.

bodog-234-60This weekend in College Football is lacking the great matchups the last two weeks had. In fact, there is only 1 top 25 matchup, and it’s between TCU and BYU. There are some good games though. From the SEC, Tennessee travels to Alabama to take on the secon ranked team in the nation. The Big East offers up USF vs. Pittsburgh in an early game that should be entertaining. The ACC has a conference matchup between Miami and Clemson. Finally, the Big Ten features the Michigan Wolverines  taking on Penn State Nittany Lions.

pitt-panthersThe first game, the early game, USF vs. #20 Pittsburgh isn’t getting much attention. Just last week USF was ranked before they fell to Cincinnati last Thursday night. That loss was the first of USF’s season.

Pittsburgh has looked good this year. They have a pretty solid passing game with a decent running game to match. Dave Wannstedt has his guys playing well, and should be able to beat USF.

Though Pitt looks to be the winner of this game, the question is whether or not they can cover 6 1/2 points. College football oddsmakers have the Panthers at roughly a touchdown favorite. I found it at 6 1/2 at BetUS Sportsbook. If you can get it at that spread, take Pitt and give the points.

hurricanesAt 3:30, Miami and Clemson hook it up live from South Florida. Miami has been very surprising this year with their only loss coming at the hands of Virginia Tech. After surving a brutal opening schedule, the Hurricanes are entering the portion which they should win.

Miami should handle Clemson, but will they cover the 4 1/2 points? I found this line at BetUS also. In my opinion, Miami should dominate this game. The 4 1/2 points won’t be a question, take Miami and give the points.

alabamaThis next game is somewhat of a rivalry. Back when Phil Fulmer was coach of the Volunteers, he had some pretty harsh allegations about Alabama recruiting. Needless to say it didn’t make him popular in Alabama. Well, fat Phil is gone, and Lane Kiffin is in control of the Vols, but he hasn’t tried to smooth the waters any. This game should be heated and intense.

Alabama is the second ranked team in the nation, and is looking to get after the young Volunteers. Saban wants to impose his will on Kiffin’s team, and it will most likely happen. Currently, oddsmakers have the line in this game set at Alabama -14 1/2. I like Alabama in this game, but I feel much better if the spread was at 13 1/2. Still, I’m going to take Alabama to cover the spread. Take Alabama and give the points.

michigan-wolverinesThe Big Ten conference doesn’t have much to offer this year. Their best teams are above average teams in the elite conferences, namely the SEC. Still, they play for a championship and a birth to the Rose Bowl. This week the feature matchup is Michigan taking on Penn State. While the Big 10 is down, Penn State is one of the better teams. Their only loss came at the hands of undefeated Iowa. Michigan was ranked at one point in the year until losing to Michigan State. Since that loss, the Wolverines dropped another game, and need to rebound. Sure to be a tough challenge for Rich Rod.

This game is in Michigan Stadium at 3:30 pm. As it stands now, Michigan is a 4 point underdog. While I like Michigan, I don’t think they’re ready to run with Penn State yet. Penn State wins this game, but Michigan beats the spread. Take Michigan and the points.

byuLast game, Big West Conference rivals TCU and BYU get it on. BYU started the season on fire beating Oklahoma and Sam Bradford. They won their next game, got to 7th in the nation and then got waxed by FSU. BYU hasn’t lost since then, but faces an always tough TCU team.

Odds makers know this one is going to be close which is the reason for the 2 1/2 point spread. You would think BYU would be favored at home, but they’re not. BYU is 2 1/2 point dogs. BYU will beat TCU straight up, but stick with the spread. Take BYU and the points.

There are 5 games for Saturday. We want to go perfect, so lets hope for 5 and 0. I feel confident we are going to hit at least 80%, so be sure to track these picks over the weekend.
